Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Our overall aim for children at Hart Hill Nursery Schools is that:
All children will begin to recognise how they are feeling and learn strategies to regulate their own emotions
We know that ...
Who we are (personal), how we get along with others (social) and how we feel (emotional) are foundations that form the bedrock of lives. Our sense of self is continuously developing, as we move through our school education, as well as when we become adults.
At Hart Hill Nursery School, we understand that ...
A child’s personal, social and emotional development is key to all other aspects of their learning. When a child feels happy about themselves, safe in an environment and listened to by others, they will flourish.
We focus on a child’s Personal, Social and Emotional Development through:
- Using a keyworker system to support children to build strong, warm and supportive relationships with adults.
- Promoteing the use of Zones of Regulation, Jigsaw and Signs 4 Feelings to enable children to learn how to understand their own feelings and those of others.
- Highlighting children’s successes to help develop a positive sense of self, set themselves simple goals, have confidence in their own abilities and to persist and wait for what they want and direct attention as necessary.
- Teaching the children how to look after their bodies, including healthy eating, and managing personal needs independently.
- Supporting interaction with other children, so that they learn how to make good friendships, co-operate and resolve conflicts peacefully.
