Governors

Welcome from the Chair of Governors

On behalf of the Governing Body, I am pleased to welcome you to Hart Hill Nursery School.

My name is Daniel Coppin, I am Chair of Governors for Hart Hill Nursery School. As chair, with additional support from the clerk, I am responsible for ensuring the effective functioning of the governing body and have a vital role in setting the highest of expectations for professional standards of governance. It is the chair’s role to give the governing body clear leadership and direction, keeping it focused on its core strategic functions.

Our governors are experienced individuals, and the governing body consists of staff, parents, and members of the local community, having different backgrounds and experience, allows us to work collectively to fulfil the three core functions of Governance:

· Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos, and strategic direction.

· Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the nursery school and its children, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff.

· Overseeing the financial performance of the nursery school and making sure its money is well spent.

The governing body acts as the critical friend to the Headteacher in the strategic development of the school. As governors, we also share a common objective, which is the wider nursery community – working in partnership with you as parents and carers and staff to ensure that every child can succeed and reach their full potential. The most rewarding part of being a Governor is to see the children enjoying themselves while in a learning environment. To support this, we can often be found in and around the nursery, attending meetings and experiencing the many different activities that take place in nursery school.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible during the coming months and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and to assure you that I am committed to and very proud of our nursery. I will continue working with Mrs Thompson and her staff, governors, parents, and children as we all collectively strive to make Hart Hill an outstanding Nursery.

If you see me at the nursery, please come and have a chat. Another way I can be contacted is via the school office or via email chair@harthill.nurseyluton.com You will also see other Governors at school & events as we try to attend as many as possible between us so, once again, have a chat.

Yours faithfully

Daniel Coppin
