Outdoor Learning
Our Outdoor Area is changing!
Our pond is looking a little sorry for itself, with only one fish in there currently. Our Site Agent is going to be working hard over the half term holiday to remove the pond, ready for relocation in another area of the garden.
I wonder what this area will become? Can you guess? We have given you a clue in the photographs!
Our Outdoor Area
We pride ourselves in our outdoor provision. The children are encouraged to go outside in all weathers and to help facilitate this we provide waterproofs and wellington boots.
Our outdoor area provides a vast amount of experiences that we would not be able to offer inside alone. The children are encouraged to take part in adventurous play, take care of the environment, join, plan and share experiences with their friends and to be as imaginative as they like.
The garden has a range of environments which are available throughout the year including:
- An Outdoor Kitchen
- A Woodland Walk
- A Pond
- An Allotment
- An Orchard Area
- A Trim Trail
- A Wigwam
- A Bird Hide
- The Acorn Suite – Outdoor Classroom
Staff carefully observe the children and join their play to see clear interests that are developing. Additional resources and enhancements are then added to areas to support the interest and to allow for further questioning and challenge.
As with inside the main classrooms, the children are encouraged to help to keep the school clean and tidy and are encouraged to help to take care of their environment.
