Reports to Governors
What have we been working on, linked to our Expressive Arts and Design Curriculum?
2024-2025
Targets from School Development Plan:
To look at, enhance and develop an imagination curriculum, linked to stories that the school focuses on and moves away from known experiences, including:
- To explore and evaluate the development of skills for age appropriate expectations
- To observe the good practice that is already taking place across the school
- To combine all research to create an effective imagination curriculum
Progress towards targets:
- The EAD subject leader has spent time research a number of publications, including birth to 5 matters and development matters, to help develop an imagination curriculum.
- This has included looking at age ranges and what skills sit where, within a timeline of expected outcomes.
- To support this work, the subject leader has had informal discussions with staff members, and complete informal walk arounds the school, to begin to determine what is happening already in day to day practice.
- The EAD subject leader has reviewed the autumn data and explored the children who are not yet on track.
- The classes have looked at these children and expressed the area of EAD they are not yet on track in (Music, art & imagination). The subject leader has observed the children not yet on track in their play, so see the opportunities to develop these skills.
- The Expressive Arts and Design subject leader has completed the questionnaire around successes and gaps in provision, following a range of monitoring activities including learning walks, data analysis and observations of the outdoor environment.
- The subject leader is working with the SLT in the summer term to develop a draft imagination curriculum and this will be rolled out from September 2025.
