Report to Governors
What have we been working on, linked to our Physical Development Curriculum?
2024-2025
Targets from School Development Plan:
To ensure a clear progress in the curriculum offer for fine and gross motor skills across the school, including:
- To look at the skills in the LTP and transfer these over to match schemes currently in use
- Identify gaps in learning that may appear and explore how to fill the gaps at the appropriate time
- Ensure the curriculum is taught in a progressive way across the school, once changes have been made
Progress towards targets:
- The Physical Development Lead has reviewed the current LTP and MTP for physical development, to explore what the school is currently doing.
- Elements of gross motor, through to fine motor have been streamlined and now progress through; the school is doing a number of good practices, however they are not always in skills order, and may by staff preference.
- This has been reviewed and the LTP, now states the schemes used at each point of the year, rather than the level of skill; the PD LTP now mirrors other LTP’s and so staff find it easier to follow.
- The PD lead has reviewed the data from summer term and compared to baseline of this year’s cohort of children.
- This has allowed a deeper look into Spring born children who are not on track and a focus for Autumn born children who are working further than expected, to ensure they are still being challenged.
- The physical development lead has completed data analysis for the Autumn term and has carried out in class observations, to explore the offer during both Adult led and ChiL for children, whose PD is not yet on track.
- The physical development lead has reviewed the changes in the garden, staff have worked together to ensure progression of skills in the Spring term, and this will continue in the summer and autumn term, so that a full provision map of skills over time in the garden is developed.
- The Physical Development subject leader has completed the questionnaire around successes and gaps in provision, following a range of monitoring activities including data analysis and formal observations.
- An initial action plan has been developed to include outcomes from findings of child’s voice, planning reviews, formal observations and data analysis.
