Forest Schools and Outdoor Learning

We pride ourselves in our outdoor provision. The children are encouraged to go outside in all weathers and to help facilitate this we provide waterproofs and wellington boots.

Our outdoor area provides a vast amount of experiences that we would not be able to offer inside alone. The children are encouraged to take part in adventurous play, take care of the environment, join, plan and share experiences with their friends and to be as imaginative as they like.

The garden has a range of environments which are available throughout the year including:

  • An Outdoor Kitchen
  • A Woodland Walk
  • A Pond
  • A Transient Art Area
  • An Allotment
  • An Orchard Area
  • A Beach Style Sandpit
  • A Trim Trail
  • A Wigwam
  • A Bird Hide
  • A Bug Hotel

Staff carefully observe the children and join their play to see clear interests that are developing. Additional resources and enhancements are then added to areas to support the interest and to allow for further questioning and challenge.

As with inside the main classrooms, the children are encouraged to help to keep the school clean and tidy and are encouraged to help to take care of their environment.

SAFEGUARDING AND CHILD PROTECTION
We are committed to the safety and welfare of all our children and follow guidelines and procedures set out by Luton Borough Council’s Safeguarding Children Board. Our Safeguarding Children policy is available for you to read along with all the other policies and procedures. If we have any concerns about your child’s wellbeing we will always talk to you. Equally, if you feel you need help or support with your child or family we are always happy to help you.
