Our admissions policy and procedures are agreed via the governor body annually.

  • Registration can take place following a child’s first birthday
  • Priority for allocating places will made upon the educational or social need of the child and their family
  • If the school has surplus places a full time place will be offered to children identified as having a significant educational or social need (as deemed by the family worker team and SLT, with support of outside agencies)
  • Children can start Little Harts the term after their second birthday
  • Children can start the Nursery School the term after their third birthday
  • Hart Hill Nursery School provides specialised provision for the universal 15 hours free nursery entitlement for those children who have been identified as having a special educational need, as described by Luton SENS Team
  • A full time place will be offered to the children who have a resourced place, the term they are eligible to start full time education in an Infant or Primary School, if they have chosen to defer they start in a mainstream school.
  • Children who are awaiting transition to a specialised primary school with no reception based provision will be offered a full time place, if they are in receipt of an EHC plan or if there is space in the Resourced Provision
  • In exceptional circumstances a full time place may need to revert back to part time Free Nursery Entitlement place of 15 hours a week
  • Children can take their universal 15 hours Free Nursery Entitlement as a morning or afternoon place five days a week
  • In additional the school also provides extended entitlement for 30 hours, 5 days a week, 38 weeks a year for those parents who fulfil the following criteria:
  • Both parents are employed but one (or both parents) is temporarily away from the workplace on parental, maternity or paternity leave
  • Both parents are employed but one (or both parents) is temporarily away from the workplace on adoption leave
  • Both parents are employed but one (or both parents) is temporarily away from the workplace on stator sick pay
  • One parent is employed and one parent has substantial caring responsibilities based on specific benefits received for caring
  • One parent is employed and one parent is disabled and incapacitated based on receipt of specific benefits
  • Both parents are working (or sole parent in a lone parent family) & each parent/carer earns on average:
    • a weekly minimum equivalent to 16 hours at national minimum wage (for under 25 yr olds) or national living wage (if over 25 yrs old), and less than £100,000 per year

All applications will be considered and places allocated following Luton Borough Council’s guidelines.  The school will endeavour to ensure that the Nursery will have no surplus places and any places will be filled as soon as possible.  If the school is full, your child will be put on a waiting list and this will be on a first come first served basis.

We are committed to the safety and welfare of all our children and follow guidelines and procedures set out by Luton Borough Council’s Safeguarding Children Board. Our Safeguarding Children policy is available for you to read along with all the other policies and procedures. If we have any concerns about your child’s wellbeing we will always talk to you.
