The Nest is our new 0–2-year-old room.

The Nest provides care and education for children who are aged 9months to 2 years of age.  

The provision is currently being set up, ready for opening in September 2026.

Environment

The room has three areas that support the physical development of children who are crawling, cruising and walking, through spacious rooms and low-level furniture.

The rooms include space for feeding, sleeping and playing. In addition, there is a separate space for intimate care and a milk room for supporting the preparation of age-appropriate food.

The outdoor environment has been designed to support very young children's development, and access to nature, in all weathers.  The ground of the outdoor environment is artifical grass, to support all aged children to explore free from harm.  

Curriculum

Our intent for The Nest, is that all children will follow a curriculum based on the foundations of early years practice, including through

• Building secure relationships with the room staff, becoming attached to their key worker and having their emotional needs met.
• Providing a language-rich environment where adults prioritise language development and communication for all children.
• Offer play opportunities, linked to schemas and heuristic play, supporting high-quality interactions and in the moment planning.

Routine of the Day

8-9am - Breakfast club
9am - Play and Exploration
10am - Snack Time
10:15am - Garden Time - up to 1/2 hour, depending on the weather
10:45am - Exploration and play
11:30am - Lunchtime
12noon - Nap time
1pm - Exploration and Play
1:30pm - Garden Time - up to 1/2 hour, depending on the weather
2pm - Snack Time
2:30pm - Together Time
3pm-4pm - Time for collection

On receiving the registration form, we will contact you to find out:

• The hours that are needed in our setting
• If you have had a tour, or would like a tour of the setting
• The best way to contact you and update you on progress with the new room
