Farm to Fork Opportunities

We feel it is extremely important that the children become aware of and develop an understanding of where food comes from. To promote this we support the farm to fork agenda. It is very important for children to grow into healthy adults, they need to have the basic skills linked with cooking and being able to make the correct choice and ensure a good balanced diet.

We provide opportunities each week for the children to take part in various cooking and tasting experiences. As a healthy school, all of the cooking and tasting is linking to healthy choices.

The children are taught how to plant, grow and look after vegetables in our allotment area. Our orchard provides both apple and pear trees, which provide a great amount of fruit each year. Once they are ready to harvest the children use them to cook and taste them.
