Staffing and Training

Over 40 staff work here during the day in a variety of posts. All have qualifications suitable to their work, and all have the opportunity to undertake further training courses.

We have a headteacher and deputy headteacher, 2 other class teachers and a specialist teacher for children with severe and complex learning needs. The deputy head has a class.

The 3 classes in the Nursery have 2 very experienced Nursery Nurses or Teaching Assistants who are key workers for the children, and other teaching assistants with an NVQ 3 or equivalent qualification. In Little Harts (our 2 year olds) and the Care Clubs the Care Leader works with a deputy care leader, early years workers (level 3) and early years assistants (level 2). We have lunch assistants who might start here with no qualification but are all offered the chance to take NVQ courses. They often become full time staff as vacancies occur, either here or in other schools and children's centres.

Some Nursery Nurses and experienced teaching assistants  take early years degree courses at Luton / Bedfordshire University or through Barnfield College. This can become an honours degree with further study.

All staff have on site training in children's first aid, safeguarding children and food hygiene. We have access to Luton's training courses and use the Institute of Education at London University for day courses. Staff are also able to attend day courses on special needs locally and in London.

The Family Worker and Children's Centre Assistant attend many courses linked to family needs, baby massage, running a Toy Library, healthy eating etc.

Our bursar has a Certificate in School Business Management and other courses are available on finances and budgeting for all office staff.

Our site agent and cleaners have access to Luton Borough Council's training in health and safety and work hard to keep the building in very good condition.
Governors also access LBC's governor training courses on finance, personnel and the role of the governor.

We are a training establishment for trainee teachers and childcare workers and always have work experience pupils from Luton High Schools.

We are very proud of the staff who work here. Our training programs ensure that we have the highest quality staff working with your children!
