Our Nursery
We are very proud of the Nursery School heritage. The original building was constructed in 1939 and opened at the outbreak of the second world war. This photo is one of several from 1939-1942. There is a separate section showing other photos from that period.
The Nursery now has 90 places for children, most of whom start the term they become 3 or following their third birthday. We do not have a catchment area but most come from the Hart Hill / Crawley Green area of Luton. Children attend mornings or afternoons and are based in either Red, Green or Blue classes for registration and introduction to the session, and for story at the end. For the rest of the time they are with us they have free choice to move around the 3 classrooms and garden. We firmly believe
that children should become independent learners and encourage them to make their own choices whilst being helped and supported by staff.
Children may be registered from 18 months for a place in the Nursery. Once places are offered parents are invited to a new parents meeting with the headteacher and offered a home visit with 2 of the class team. One member of staff will be the child's key worker and will be the main contact between home and school.
After the home visits children have a gradual start and build up to full time. We ask parents to be available, or to have a friend or relative available, for this time to ensure a happy and successful start to the Nursery.
To register children for the Nursery please contact Louise in the office and complete a registration form. Please register as soon as you can as places fill up through the year and we cannot guarantee places for everyone.
